Abuja Basketball Fans Turn To Women League For Festive Season Entertainment
Some Basketball fans in Abuja have described the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League as the best form of entertainment anyone could get during the festive, fans told the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) on Sunday in Abuja.
Tunde Johnson, a civil servant, said he had not watched a basketball game in a while as watching sports was his best form of relaxation.
“I have not watched basketball game in a long while due to work and the location where it is played.
“I love to watch basketball because I played the game as a student in secondary school. So, since I have seen the opportunity I decided to be here.
“For me, it is also the best way to relax during this period instead of the cinemas and parks,” Johnson said.
Another woman, who came to watch the game with her children said:
“My late husband used to play basketball, though not professionally, and it has been his dream for his children to do sports, and basketball if possible.
“I have two daughters and they play basketball at home. So, I have brought them here to draw inspiration from the ladies playing here, so that at least either of them will get serious with the sport.
“This is a lot better than watching the television at home or playing games during this holiday,” she said.
Juliet Nathan, a student, was also present to support her friend’s team.
“My friend plays for FCT Angels and I am here to cheer her and her teammates up.
“I also love basketball and play the game in school, so I am here to learn a few skills to help me improve my style of play as I aspire to play the game professionally in future,” she added.
