Current Division In Nigeria Was Ignited By Buhari’s 5% Versus 97% Speech – Omokri
The current division in Nigeria was ignited by the infamous 5% versus 97% speech that Muhammadu Buhari gave in Washington on June 23, 2015. It is quite unfortunate that this administration began on a premise of 5% versus 97%. No Father should ever tell some of his kids in the presence of the rest of his kids that he loves them more than the others. When that happens, the discontent that it will cause may lead to the break up of that home. Even if you as a father have favorites, you must do your best to hide it. Genesis 37:4 says “And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.” Is it any surprise then that there is today hatred between the 97% and the 5%?

Buhari fulfilled it. It started during the time of political party formation in 1920s. After NYM and NNDP which were formed by Herbert Macaulay and other true nationalists. Later some idiot came up with tribal and religious party such as NPC, NEPU,AG, BYM. The two parties igbos joined then were more national party eg NCNC and chike obi’s party than others especially NPC, AG, BYM, UMBC and even Bornu youth movement. What a folk.
