Boko Haram Attacks Convoy Being Escorted By Soldiers To Damboa

Boko Haram insurgents have attacked a long convoy carrying the corpse of one police sergeant whose relations were going to bury in Lassa town in southern Borno.

The Commissioner of Police, Damien Chukwu, said on phone that although they did not touch the ambulance the driver was killed and many others wounded this Tuesday morning.

The usual convoy of over 200 vehicles were traveling to Damboa enroute southern Borno among which were mobile policemen from Delta state were being ferried to Askira Uba on routine change of guards to relieve their colleagues.

There were hundreds of civilians travelling who seized the opportunity of the once in a day convoy to travel to the south of Borno which is accessible from Maiduguri through that dangerous route.

The driver of a truck full of medical supplies was also killed on the spot by the daring insurgents but details are still sketchy on the number killed.

Several civilians and mobile police men were wounded while we are yet to receive details about the soldiers.

Further details will be released when the the police authorities speak further on the development.
