Sean Spicer Resigns As Trump’s White House Press Secretary

sean spicer

Sean Spicer on Friday resigned as White House press secretary, bringing to an end a tumultuous six months as the public face of Donald Trump’s administration.

This is considered as a silent protest to President Donald Trump’s appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as his new communications director.

His sudden resignation comes on the heels of mounting pressure on Trump from a special investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 US presidential elections.

According to sources, Trump asked Spicer not to resign, but he opposed him saying, however, that that he believed the appointment was a major mistake.

Scaramucci, who founded the global investment firm SkyBridge Capital and is a Fox News Channel contributor.

He is known for his spirited on-air defense of Mr. Trump, but he also enjoys good relationships with journalists from an array of outlets, including those the president has labeled “fake news.”

In his first comments since the news broke, Spicer told CNN’s Dana Bash: “I wanted to give the president and the new team a clean slate.”

Then in a tweet Spicer said it was an “honor & a privilege” so serve President Trump.
