OPINION: To My ‘Foolish’ Southerners, May Your Blindness Find A Cure
By Ata Ikiddeh
To my blind and ‘foolish’ Southerners: The Longsuffering Husband and the Nagging Wife
1) You said he was an illiterate without a certificate. Today you have been given a Professor, one of your own.
But you still choose to remain blind, pathologically fixated on the man in the London hospital.
2) You said he was a religious bigot, an Islamist and a Jihadist. You have been given a Christian, a Pastor. A Holy Spirit filled believer.
But you still choose to remain blind, pathologically fixated on the man in the London hospital.
3) You said he was a core Northerner a Hausa-Fulani an Usman Dan Fodist. Today you have been given a Southerner from the core South West powerbase, married to a daughter of Awolowo, one of our Southern greats.
But you still choose to remain blind, pathologically fixated on the man in the London hospital.
4) You said he was a herdsman aiding and abetting the killing of farmers. You said he never cared. You said he never once visited you. But today you have a man who has visited you, reached out to you and everyone. A man not afraid to visit the killing fields. A man who has changed the military command in Southern Kaduna and stemmed the Fulani herdsmen blood menace for your sake!
But you still choose to remain blind, pathologically fixated on the man in the London hospital.
5) You screamed and shouted how the Muslims had a secret agenda to Islamize your children by merging CRK and IRK into one subject. He immediately stepped in, ordered the Fed Ministry of Education to separate the subjects in order to allay your fears.
But you still choose to remain blind, pathologically fixated on the man in the London hospital.
6) You said he is hanging on to power he is still President while he is vice. You forget the only true test of who is in command comes from who is in control of the Armed Forces. There was a military shakeup after he travelled in May. Last week there was major military shakeup, this time under his command. The shake up cancelled and amended some of the May military deployments. Southern Kaduna military command has been changed. Yesterday he held security meetings with the military Chiefs.
But you still choose to remain blind, pathologically fixated on the man in the London hospital.
7) You say he still has a cabal, so I ask you what has the cabal been able to stop or frustrate under this man from your region, you would have been the first to hear. NOTHING! He is in charge. He is both the De Jure and De Facto, President!
But you still choose to remain blind, pathologically fixated on the man in the London hospital.
8) You said he was narrow minded with a tunnel vision. Today you have been given a man with a truly Patriotic Global World
View, a man who, “Belongs To Everybody”.
But still you choose to remain blind, pathologically fixated on the man in the London hospital.
9) You said he called you 5% and his people 95%. But today you have been given a man who has changed that language. This man speaks of 100% for everybody, his favourite themes in all his speeches are Equity, Fairness and Justice. He has visited your region more times than he has the other region to heal the wounds of marginalisation.
But you still choose to remain blind, pathologically fixated on the man in the London hospital.
10) You said the other region colluded and rigged your region out of Power. But mysteriously Power has been returned back to your region and your new son is identifying with all your yearnings and fears, he has made no distinction who he visits, he has gone beyond party lines to show you that he truly belongs to you, giving you a lifeline to comeback politically through any party of your choosing in 2019.
But you still choose to remain blind, pathologically fixated on the man in the London hospital.
11) My Dear Southerners who has cast this dark spell on you, who has stopped you from seeing how your fortunes have changed. What great malevolent evil has covered your eyes and stopped your ears? What sorcery has taken over your minds? What coven have your minds been locked into that you can’t see these things. Why do you still froth around the mouth and convulse in endless criticisms when you should be walking on water. It’s like nothing can ever satisfy you insatiable lust to complain.
I never use to believe this but you are truly the nagging wife and they, the longsuffering husband.
I have seen no greater evil upon a people than what this epiphany has shown me today.
May this blindness find a CURE!

Mr. Ikiddeh, get real and rational in your approach to Nigeria politics. The North is simply lazy and complacent with a welfare State approach where people are fed with fish instead of learning how to fish for sustenance. Until the North learn how to set their eyes away from this oil in the South that has completely blind folded them with greed and avarice, Nigeria will never develop. Learn how to be productive and competitive economically in Nigeria and you would be fulfilled. Stop your dependence on Southern Oil and develope your vast land. Israel is only 8 million people with 60% of their land as complete desert. Today their GDP is $300billion whereas Nigeria of 180 million people has a mere $480billion GDP. The North alone in Nigeria is capable of generating an economy of $500billion GDP if they become productive and focused. Wake up and stop being lazy
and reaping where you didn’t sow.
