Igbos Should Fight For Presidency Not Biafra – Orji Kalu

orji uzor kalu

Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has said that Nnamdi Kanu’s agitation for Biafra cannot be made possible now.

Kalu, however, called on the Igbos to instead channel their energy into fighting for the presidency.

He made this statement in Lokoja on Saturday, while delivering a lecture at an Igbo gathering for the inauguration of Igbo Support Group for Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, which he titled: “Mainstreaming Igbo in Nigeria Politics”.

“We must fix Nigeria to work for all inclusive of all aspiration of all. We (Igbo) have made progress but it is not yet Uhuru for us.

“This is not the time to pop champagne but a time for conscious reflection on the road we have passed, where we are and where we intend to be in the years ahead.

“As Igbos, we must stop listening to people who says Biafra is possible. If we want Biafra we must first ensure that referendum is included in the constitutional review.

“Nigeria should be thinking of annexing other Africa country rather than dividing it. China is 2 billion and not talking about secession. But Nigeria with less than 200 million populace is talking secession,” he said.

On the recent quit notice given to Igbos by the Arewa youth, Kalu said, “Recently, we have witnessed a rise in ethnic activism. A lot of people have expressed fears that Nigeria may be coming to an end.

“Well in politics, you have to entertain all manner of fears while working on possibilities. However, because of that fears, we have seen a ‘quit notice’ order from some northern youth groups.

“I will focus on the possibilities. And the first is that a United Nigeria is an easier possibility than a balkanized country. I see a more united country rising from the ashes of hate and fear.

“However, the issues raised have causes some to wonder if the Igbo have leaders. Of course, Igbo’s leaders are talking and dialoguing. In politics, you often dialogue more than you talk.

“So, in managing a diverse country like Nigeria, you need to dialogue and communicate rightly. That way you will be able to manage tension. In this regard, I want to specially thank the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo led by Chief John Nnia Nwodo for the matured way they handle the quit notice.

“People are naturally attached to their religion, customs, and tradition. People take offence at the abuse of their religion, customs and tradition. This is because any such abuse is considered an affront.

“I am not sure of any Igbo man who will like a non-Igbo resident in his village transgressing the custom of his people. If you will not like that, don’t do it to another person. That is the golden rule. If you do just that, the source of friction and trouble will be defeated.

“I believe the Igbo are in a better position to understand that all politics, like they say, is local. It therefore suggest that the Igbo must see the need to align properly and seek strategic partnership of other interest groups and political blocs to achieve whatever developmental ideas that they have; such as the shoot for the presidency.

“In politics, you market yourself and make yourself a strategic ally. It is when you achieve this that you put your cards on the table. If the Igbo work themselves into a very strategic political partner, while not putting their eggs into one basket, we can then put the cards on the table before our partners to determine what we get for and what they get from us. We cannot however do that when we remain antagonistic to one another. We cannot achieve it when we scare everyone away with hate. We cannot achieve it if we think its Igbo and Igbo alone.

“We must build necessary networks. We must build alliances across political divide. This are very important so that our own stories can be told and heard too. If we don’t build such alliances, we may not be able to market our demands.”

Orji Uzo Kalu is a short sighted greedy myopic individual with no vision and no leadership skills. Look at how he left Aba after 8 years as a governor. Aba has never recovered. He couldn’t develop what could have been the Japan of West Africa “ABA” where he grew up. How does he think he could be president of Nigeria with 36 states when he was unable to successfully develop just Aba alone as city talk of Abia State. He is a guru in sucking dirty fulani ass. His political life in Igbo land is over. He can find solace in the North where his narrow minded exclusiveness is bound to thrive. He should stop bothering the proud Biafra nation with a prestige to unkeep. OUK has out lived his usefulness in Igbo land and no longer relevant in Igbo politics. A sell out of a personality-to say the least.

He is on point concerning this statement. We must learn to assimilate and process information with our head not heart .

Emotion and sentiment most times leads us in taking wrong decisions and regrettable actions .

Moreover, in every cause of action and objectives . There should be options and not a one way zombie movement .

Their is nothing wrong in a group of Igbo’s demanding for Presidency. While others are agitating for Baifra .Which ever one that materializes will ultimately be to the benefit of the Igbo Nation .

The sequences and risk factor of each demand and cost of implementation should also be weighed critically .

There is the likely hood that the Igbo Presidency is achievable in the immediate future . Without much rancour and possibility of creating bad blood and bloodshed .

However, with the current hyper and misgivings concerning the elements pushing for Biafra and with the current mood of the Nation . There is a high probability of the Biafran agitation leading to chaos and conflict . Which inadvertently will lead to unwarranted bloodshed .

There is need for us to exercise restraint and be a little patience . In other for us to rebuild trust and burnt bridges . Which will cool tempers and bring us to a round table . Where issues will be discussed with understanding and respect for each other .

At this point in time it is possible that session, true or fiscal federalism or better still regionalism or which ever form of coexistence or cooperation . That shall be amicable agreed on fashioned out . With every reasonable demands meet . And a win-win negotiated settlement achieved by all concerned parties .

Let us think about this .

May Jehovah God help us .

Again, Charles Ogbu breaks it down for those who do not understand the implications of the circus show that happened at the National Assembly in the name of reviewing the national constitution…

THE SENATE ANTI-RESTRUCTURING VOTE, BIAFRA AGITATION AND THE REST OF US.

This is certainly not the best of time for Nigeria. And most certainly not for the advocates of #OneNigeria as Tuesday’s “No Devolution Of Power” vote at the floor of the Senate appears to have finally given a very serious form of institutional credence to the assertion by the Nnamdi kanu led Biafran movement that the Nigeria state is unsalvageable.
But beyond the rhetorics and verbal gymnastics, there are some wildly held opinions which the Senate vote has simply elevated to the status of fact. Here are some of them:
1: It is not the Senate as an institution that doesn’t want a restructured Nigeria. It is the North as a region. Sadly, long years of military rule championed by mostly northern military officers have succeded in skewing the political equation of Nigeria in favour of the North. As it stands now, the North is in a default position to hold the rest of the country to ransom and that is exactly what is happening. She gets whatever she wants no matter how scandalous such a want might seem and she ensures that what the other region wants doesn’t see the light of day no matter how fair and just such a want might be. Even with the combination of the numerical strength of southern lawmakers, the North still has the veto power.
North East Development Commission bill was passed into law almost before it was even presented on the floor of the parliament. But, a bill to “gift” Lagos state with special status was killed. A bill to set up a development commission for the southeast was equally shut down. Before the adulterated version of PIB was allowed to pass 2nd reading, northern lawmakers made sure that Kano and Kaduna were included as beneficiaries of the Host Community fund even when those two no

Brother , the voting patterns you are currently witnessing in the Senate is more or less weakening and exposing the almost expired . Wasted and failed generation of the Northern elites and leaders . Rather than strengthening them .

Whatever, they skewed bills or decisions they are currently passing and taking will not stand the test of time . or implementable in the long run .

Reality is yet to dawn on them . And before not too long will be quited in their fools paradise and wake up from slumber in their lazy beds .

Where are they going to continue get the money to fund their wastages and crazy bulls?

Are they not aware that oil in the nearest future is most likely not to fetch as much . Even though it is currently fetching little now .

Even if the price of crude oil remains stable . Do they have any guarantee that the Niger Delta region will continue to all them to take out or all wholesale. As they are doing now ?

With the little skirmishes and disturbances in the Niger Delta . At inception of the present regime . We all know the apprehension they felt and how the government and economy. Was almost at knees ends

Eventually, when the chips are down . We may as a matter of necessity adopt Proportional representation option . If we have to save Nigeria as a Nation .

Rather than making noise and heating up the polity at all times . Without adequately assessing our political strategy and gains achieved in adapting a particular cause of action .

There is the urgent need for the Igbo to put on our thinking caps . Coming together in harmonizing their different positions. Be ready to match others wit by wit , tact for tact and diplomacy versus diplomacy . In other for us to achieve agreeable , acceptable and implementable protocol and agreement . Now and in the future .

We must allow ourselves fall into snares and be used by others any longer . or to make a mistake that will be greater than our previous mistakes .

May Jehovah God guide and help us .

Mazi Ihenacho, what are you talking about? Do you understand that the search for nigerian presidency is an attempt to solve a collective problem of the Ibo People through an individual mechanism? Who enjoys the anointment of an Ibo Person a President but the individual himself and his immediate families but the restoration of Biafra will solve the problems of all Ibos or at least, safe guard the lives and property of all Ibos. So, the search for Ibo presidency is not a solution to the Ibo Problem in Nigeria rather an attempt to address the symptoms of the problem. Mazi Ihenacho, did the election of Jonathan the president of Nigeria address one iota of the Ijaw People’s Problems? Besides, Fraudster Orji Uzo Kalu, who is not an Ibo Man by hereditary is not in a position to advise Ibos on their political future. Abiriba People are nor Ibos originally rather they are immigrants from Calabar hence most of their mothers are from Calabar. Kalu Orji is not known for his competence or intellectual ability so he should shut his mouth and thank his God for not being prosecuted for stealing Abia State funds.
