Liverpool Demolish Arsenal 4-0 At Anfield
Liverpool romped to victory at Anfield thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp decided to drop goalkeeper Simon Mignolet ahead of kick-off but his decision did not affect his team’s dominant performance.
Salah missed a glorious chance inside the first 10 minutes when Petr Cech made a superb save from close range.
The summer signing’s blushes were spared minutes later when Firmino opened the scoring as he glided into the box to head home Joe Gomez’s cross.
Mane then made it two with five minutes left in the first half as he turned inside the box before curling the ball into the far corner.
Liverpool needed just 12 minutes of the second half to grab their third, with Salah’s driving run going unchallenged and he slotted the ball past Cech in the Gunners goal.
Sturridge then stepped off the bench in the closing stages to grab his first goal of the season after his diving header converted Salah’s inch-perfect cross.
Arsenal introduced Olivier Giroud and Alexandre Lacazette in a bid to find a goal but Arsene Wenger’s men were left embarrassed and the pressure will be on the Frenchman before the transfer deadline.
Liverpool produced a devastating display of attacking football to claim a comprehensive 4-0 win over a ragged Arsenal side at Anfield.
Goals from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in a dominant first-half display set up victory before Mohamed Salah and substitute Daniel Sturridge completed the rout.
The Gunners were swept aside with embarrassing ease and, were it not for several good saves from Petr Cech, their defeat could have been even more humiliating.
