Fuel Scarcity Will End Before Next Monday – Ibe Kachikwu

Ibe Kachikwu

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, on Thursday assured state governors that the current fuel scarcity the country is experiencing will end in the next 48 hours.

This is according to Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo state, who spoke after the national executive council meeting on Thursday.

“We discussed the issue of fuel supply. As you know, there has been challenges of fuel supply in the country”, Obaseki said.

“The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources assured council that within the next 48hours, fuel supply will be restored nationwide because there is enough fuel in our strategic reserves.

“He said the ministry has released fuel from these reserves and it expects distribution will reach all parts of the country within the next 48 hours.”

Dr Ibe Kachikwu should be given the full Ministerial position as the Minister for Petroleum. This will enable him do his job more effectively, by finding the most competent hands to help him, instead of someone appointing inexperienced hands to head the NNPC.
With Dr Kachikwu’s experience he could move the Nigerian Petroleum Industry forward.
The idea of giving him the Minister of State tends to ties his hands in carrying out his duties. An example to this statement is the fact that his subordinates collaborated with someone else to award a contract worth $25bn (25,000,000,000.00) without Dr Kachikwu’s knowledge; but if anything goes wrong within the Ministry, he would be the one to answer for it.
