Biafra: Why IPOB’s Sit-At-Home Order Will Fail – Security Expert, Udegbunam

IPOB members protesting in London

Kingsley Udegbunam, an expert in peace, conflict, human security and counter terrorism has revealed why the proposed sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, will fail.

Udegbunam, a senior lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, said the proposed sit-at-home protests across the South-East may not record much success in the midst of IPOB’s proscription.

Addressing journalists in Nsukka, the Senior lecturer said IPOB’s waning influence and the disappearance of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu may affect the proposed protest.

The security expert also cited the ideological difference between IPOB and other pro-Biafra groups like the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the Biafra Independence Movement, BIM, as reasons the planned sit-at-home will fail.

The lecturer disagreed with the Federal Government that IPOB was a terrorist organization.

He insisted that IPOB lacked the characteristics as prescribed by law and international statutes for a group to be tagged a terrorist organisation.

Udegbunam said, “It is plausible for me to argue that it will hold but the level of success might not be like the last one.

“In fact, I foresee a situation where majority of Easterners will ignore the sit-at-home order because of the waning influence of IPOB.

“Again, Biafra Independence Movement has come to challenge the sit at home order. So, there is a crack in the ranks of Biafra agitators, that is IPOB, MASSOB and BIM.”

Mr Kinsley Udegbunam lets watch and see and for the avoidance of doubt IPOB influence is not waning and has not waned because of the kidnap of Nnamdi Kanu. If at all, IPOB has gained more strength and in popularity around the world where IPOB is not seen as a terrorist organization. As “expert IN PEACE, CONFLICT, HUMAN SECURITY AND COUNTER TERRORISM” you have by your own admission disagreed that the proscription of IPOB by the Nigerian government. However, I find your article / commentary cowardly because you wasted an opportunity addressing news men talking about BIM, MASSOB and IPOB and why sit at home will fail when you could have talked about the killings in your own backyard in Enugu and elsewhere in Nigeria by the world’s confirmed deadliest terror group – Boko Harm and its off shoot the Fulani Herdsmen. As “expert in terrorism” and all the rest of the rest of it why is it Mr Udegbunam, you have remained silent in the midst of these terror attacks that have consumed the lives of many innocent Nigerians, men , women and children ?. Until you so called “experts” in Nigeria began to address issues of concern to many ordinary people rather than being another mouth piece to compromised Ohaneze ndi igbo, the South East Governors, Buhari and his APC government, you are nothing but cowards and calling yourselves experts is simply a self promotion.
