Former IGP Coomassie Is Dead

Ibrahim Coomassie, former Inspector General of Police is dead.

Sources said Coomassie gave up the ghost after battling with an undisclosed ailment.

The late IGP died on Thursday at the state orthorpaedic hospital at Batagarawa Local Government Area of the state.

Coomassie was born in Katsina State on March 18, 1942.

He was educated at the Provincial Secondary School, Zaria; Barewa College, Zaria; the Detective Training College, Wakefield, UK and Washington DC in the United States.

In 1993, Ibrahim Coomassie was appointed Inspector General of police, succeeding Aliyu Atta.
