Gov Umahi Is A Curse, Disgrace To Ebonyi – APC Blows Hot

Eze Nwachukwu Eze, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, has taken a swipe at Dave Umahi, governor of the state, for daring to denigrate the person and character of leaders of the APC in the state.

Describing Umahi’s administration as fraudulent, Eze said the governor is a disgrace to leadership and governance generally, and not worthy to be considered for APC membership.

The governor had, while clarifying his stance amid rumours that he had defected to the ruling party, declared that he couldn’t join a party of failures, adding that the APC leadership in Ebonyi State was a failure.

He was also reported to have said that he had no reason to quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which brought him to limelight.

Eze, who addressed journalists at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, said Governor Umahi, by his own admission, cannot be considered for a place in the APC, adding that his administration had remained one of deception in the last three years.

He said the APC was poised to show Umahi the way out come 2019 and challenged the governor to name his achievements in any sector since taking charge of the state in 2015.

His words: “I intend to set the record straight concerning the governance and leadership of Engineer Dave Umahi, the PDP governor in Ebonyi State.

“I want to state that Umahi is a disgrace to leadership, governance and having him as a governor is a curse to the people who believe in him.

“I will like to chronicle his antecedent; from the quest of power in 2015, he made Ebonyi State the only state in Nigeria that experienced what has never happened in the history of democracy in Nigeria, where he sponsored thugs to invade the Abakiliki High Court to disrupt court activities, just because some motions were being filed to stop him from his then state primaries. He dealt with people, destroyed materials, etc and he is talking about character, that he is a man of character, against the APC.

“For the same Umahi, I remember that more than three persons were killed during his election in 2015. The same Umahi took over power in 2015, inherited about 5,100 civil servants at the state level. As I am talking to you, about 1,000 have left their jobs or retired as a result of death or other causes.”

“I want him to challenge me and the APC to come up with a copy of any appointment of anybody in Ebonyi State since he assumed office. Ebonyi State is the only state in Nigeria that doesn’t have permanent secretaries in the ministries yet he is talking about character.”
