Sallah: Pray To God To Rescue Nigeria From Buhari, APC – PDP Chairman, Secondus
Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday appealed to Muslims to use the Sallah period to pray that “Almighty God send a rescuer to save Nigeria from her current precarious situation.”
Secondus, who made the appeal in a message marking the Eid-el-Kabir, noted that the suffering of Nigerians in the past three and half years of the All Progressives Congress-led administration should be enough reason to plead to God to send a rescuer in 2019 to save them from further pains.
In a statement signed and sent to ORIENTAL TIMES by his spokesperson, Ike Abonyi, the PDP Chairman said Nigerians should also use the “period to offer special prayers for the unity and stability of the nation as well as recommit their individual and collective security and economic welfare into the hands of God.”
Secondus said the special prayers have become very necessary as the “nation was more than ever before in dire need of divine intervention, especially as citizens continue to cope with dictatorship and the hardship.”
He said, “There is no dispute to the fact that Nigerians did not bargain for what they are getting in the hands of APC but the beauty of democracy is that it provides the people an opportunity to make changes and this they must ask Allah to guide them accordingly.
“It is a statement of fact that this is one of the most gloomiest Sallah in our country and so it has been since APC administration came into power
“We have all witnessed the unfortunate turn of events in our country since 2015, particularly the sudden decline in the economy, rising dictatorship, political tension, avoidable bloodletting and general insecurity in the land.
Secondus noted that while it would be understandable, the indignation, frustration and disappointments from the citizens caused by the long list of unfulfilled promises and dashed expectations under the current regime, period of sallah provides for them to return to God in supplications to change the situation.
He admonished Nigerians not to allow the “Challenges they face today as a nation make them lose their dignity and demureness as a people and make them miss the essence and meaning of Eid-el-Kabir and the divine succour it brings, especially in assuring that there is always an end to every negative situation.”
Secondus also urged all Nigerians to use the Sallah festivities to “reflect on those things that bind us together as a nation; show love to one another and commit the nation into Gods’ hands to make INEC conduct free, fair and transparent election in 2019.”
“On this note, the National Chairman of the PDP, on behalf of the PDP National Executive Committee, wishes all Nigerians joyful and peaceful Sallah celebrations,” he added.
