Bianca Ojukwu’s Political Aspirations And The House Of Ojukwu By Dr. Ejirika
It is apparently disgusting to observe that the House of Ojukwu has developed a culture of acrimony in spite of the magnanimity of the Ojukwu’s Estate.
It is worth noting that the Patriarch Ojukwu was metaphorically, a fraction of a whole that was greater than a whole, in that at a time, when Nigeria couldn’t afford a Rolls Royce Car he was gracious to loan his to Nigeria that way the visiting Princess Alexandra had means of transportation while she was in Nigeria.
But the present generation of the Ojukwus are literally from Mars while the patriarch was from Jupiter.
However, it needs to be made known to the present generation of the Ojukwu’s that the name Ojukwu carries some air of decorum, civility, and professional integrity that needs to be adored and maintained in all human transactions.
Invariably, a law suit would have been brought against the present generation of the Ojukwus by certain members of a Professional Cadre of the Civilized World who served Biafra as Military Officers though they were Teenagers. The only reason for avoiding this extreme measure, at this time, is the belief that the independence of the Judiciary under Buhari’s administration is highly questionable.
However, the question one of the Ojukwus raised regarding the constitutionality of having Bianca Ojukwu contest an election in the Political Subdivision of her late husband, General Emeka Ojukwu is far reaching and has broad based ramifications regardless of whether one adopts a narrow or broader construction of the term “citizenship”.
In actuality, the Ojukwu Junior is questioning the constitutionality of conferring on a married woman, for a marriage that was contracted in good faith the rights and privileges of the citizenship of the husband.
It is abundantly clear that the House of Ojukwu has a college of Attorneys so the question is why didn’t one of these Attorneys interpret the laws of Citizenship to Ojukwu Junior?
The only reason is the prevalence of acrimony in the House of Ojukwu that is debarring the cordial resolution of such conflicts.
So, if the legislature of Anambra State holds the view that Bianca is ineligible to contest an election in the Political Subdivision of her late husband, it then behooves the legislature to apply the same standards to all married women who are contesting or has contested or will contest an election in the political subdivision of their husband.
In which case, Ojukwu junior could be said to have let loose a cancer worm that no one knows the extent such a worm will travel and the extent of its damage.
To this end, the retired underage officers of the Biafran Military want the House of Ojukwu to understand that every Biafran has a futuristic interest in the name Ojukwu, the peoples’ general of the Biafran Military as such all should respect the aspirations of Bianca though we don’t approve of the participation of Biafrans in the politics of Nigeria.
