23 PDP Federal Lawmakers Set To Defect To APC

APC-PDP

No fewer than 23 members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives have expressed interest in joining the All Progressive Congress (APC), on resumption from the two month recess.

States mostly affected are: Gombe, Benue, Kogi, Enugu, Ekiti, Anambra and Cross River State.

The affected members’ decision was promoted by the high-handedness of their respective State Governors who allegedly approved tickets for their cronies.

The aggrieved lawmakers expressed the concerns during series of meetings held with the committee that oversees smooth nomination of all PDP candidates across the States which ended in a fiasco last week.

According to BusinessDay, all the lawmakers who have obtained Nomination Forms were denied return tickets by the State Governors, hence the resolve to mobilize their teeming supporters to the ruling party.

A source privy to this grand design to dump the opposition party said: “we want to leave not because it’s our wish but the Governors have pushed us to the wall and we are all moving.

“We have fought both physically and mentally to defend PDP and democracy and despite our commitment to the party and democracy, see what the Governors are doing to us,” the two term lawmaker said.

The lawmakers who expressed support for the early reconvening of plenary, frowned at the grand plan to extend resumption which was slated for 25th September, 2018 by two weeks.

“Why we are insisting that the National Assembly should resume early is to enable us perfect our defection strategy for good,” leader of the group told Legislative Correspondents.

All efforts to reach the Deputy Minority Leader, Chukwuma Onyema to comment on the issue proved abortive as his two lines were switched off.
