Gov. Yahaya Bello Involved In Accident On His Way To See Buhari
The convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, including his backup car, was on Monday involved in an accident in Abuja.
Our correspondent gathered that the governor’s car was already ahead to catch up with an appointment with President Muhammadu Buhari slated for 11am after maneuvering its way out of a gridlock on Jamata Bridge, along the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway.
It was learnt that the accident occurred along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Road, Abuja when a motorcycle rammed into the convoy as a result of which five cars in the convoy collided with one another.
It was learnt that the motorcyclist and two drivers in the convoy sustained injuries.
Our correspondent gathered through an eyewitness’ account that the drivers and the injured motorcycle rider were immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention.
However, the governor’s Director General, Media and Strategy, Kingsley Fanwo, denied that the governor’s convoy was involved in an accident.
When contacted, Fanwo said, “There was no accident involving the governor. He is at the Villa for a meeting as we speak; nothing of such. We thank members of the public for their concern. Thanks.”
Earlier in the day on his way to Abuja, the governor ran into a gridlock which held him for over one hour.
The gridlock was caused by protesting truck drivers who blocked the Jamata axis of the Abuja-Lokoja highway and brought traffic on the ever busy highway to a standstill.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Petra Akinti Onyegbule, in a statement, said that the protest was ignited after a military man allegedly shot the tyres of a truck.
“In solidarity, other truck drivers quickly mobilised and used their vehicles to block both sides of the highway, bringing traffic to a halt, with commuters stranded for hours.”
The governor’s spokesperson said it took the intervention of the governor, who spent over an hour at the site of the incident, to resolve the situation and bring normalcy to the highway.
The governor was said to have used the opportunity to call for understanding among road users and security operatives.

We igbos should give less attention to news that has nothing to offer us please. 85% of comments here are from us, does that mean that no kogi man is on facebook? No, they are. So let’s focus on our own for now. Many people have been complaining on how we comment and cry even more than the bereaved.
