We Have Moved 10m Nigerians Out Of Poverty – FG

About 10.073million Nigerians have been moved from poverty to prosperity, the federal government has boasted.
This was announced by minister, Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma today while speaking on arrangements for the 24th Nigerian Economic Summit (NES#24) held at the conference room of the ministry in Abuja.
He said as part of the key priorities of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, ERGP, federal government had taken steps to move over 10 million Nigerians from poverty to prosperity.
He said the Federal Government aims to do this by investing in people.
According to him, the government had provided 8.96million school children under the Home Grown School Feeding Programme; over 297,000 poor and vulnerable Nigerians supported with cash transfer of N5,000; successfully disbursed more than 308,000 loans of N50,000 and above under the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) and 200,000 Young Unemployed Graduates Empowered through the N-Power scheme , while over 308,000 had been selected for consideration for the second batch.
‘‘We have taken steps towards moving our people from Poverty to prosperity. Indeed, one of the key priorities of the ERGP is investing in our people.
‘‘That objective has been behind many Government programmes, particularly the Social Investment Programme. Under this programme, we have empowered millions of Nigerian youths, women and children.
‘‘To combat hunger and achieve food security, we have raised capital provisions for agriculture from N8.8billion in 2015 to N149.2billion in the 2018 budget. Over N82billion has been disbursed as credit to more than 350,000 farmers under the Anchor Borrowers’ programme. 14 moribund fertilizer blending plants have been revitalized through the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative (PFI), with a total capacity of 2.3million metric tons of NPK fertilizer.
‘‘Nigeria’s milled rice production has increased by about 60% and since 2016 eight new rice mills have been brought into production,’’ he added.

This is only political gimmick, you don’t move people out of poverty with handouts.
The govt must create enabling atmosphere for investors foreign and local to invest in the country, they are the REAL creators of jobs.
First security issues MUST be tackled, the emergence of bokoharam after the lull in their activities due to actions of federal troops against them in the early part of this government, coupled with kidnapping and other criminal activities across Nigeria.
Second, the electricity power must be improved upon, you don’t expect industries run on power generators, it is not done anywhere in the world.
The government MUST send packing those criminals/thieves called DISCOs who are sniffing lives out of small businesses with their “estimated” billing method.
The politicians should stop deceiving the people with “sweet talks” and do the needful to move this country forward.

7.9 million Nigerians Became Unemployed In 21 months – NBS
Channels Television
Updated December 22, 2017
14.9K151
A total of 7.956 million Nigerians became unemployed between January 2016 and September 30, 2017, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows.
This unemployment report survey for the third quarter of 2017 released by the NBS on December 22, 2017 puts the number at 7.956 million more than the 8,036 million in stood in 2015 Q4.
The bureau in the report stated that the number of Nigerians that became unemployed rose from 8,036 million in 2015 fourth quarter to 15.998 million in third quarter of 2017.

The report said further that between the second quarter and third quarter of 2017, the number of economically active or working age population (15 – 64 years of age) increased from 110.3 million to 111.1 million.
“The unemployment rate increased from 14.2 per cent in Q4 2016 to 16.2 per cent in Q2 2017 and 18.8 per cent in Q3 2017. The number of people within the labor force who are unemployed or underemployed increased from 13.6 million and 17.7 million respectively in Q2 2017, to 15.9 million and 18.0 million in Q3 2017.
“Total unemployment and underemployment combined increased from 37.2 per cent in the previous quarter to 40 per cent in Q3 2017.
“The labor force population increased from 83.9 million in Q2 2017 to 85.1 million in Q3 2017. The total number of people in full-time employment (at least 40 hours a week) declined from 52.7 million in Q2 2017 to 51.1 million in Q3 2017.”
NBS in the report blames the increasing unemployment and underemployment rates on Nigeria’s fragile economy despite the exit from recession. The report explained that domestic labor market is still fragile and economic growths in the past two quarters in 2017 have not been strong enough to provide employment in Nigeria’s domestic labor market.

What economic matrix was applied to come to this claim and how long was this made and for what duration. What category of the Nigeria society are you talking about and how did you get them out of poverty? Can you confidently say that by this undisclosed method they(the 10 million people) are living above a dollar a day? We want to know?
