Benue

The Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor, retired Colonel Paul Hembah, said that some of the sacked political office holders in the state have run away with government vehicles.

The special adviser said that the state government had begun the recovery of government property from the sacked political office holders.

Hembah who spoke to newsmen yesterday said that the recovery of government vehicles was not done to witchunt anyone.

He said, as the chairman of the committee saddle with the responsibility of recovering the
vehicles, due process was followed by communicating the affected people through letters or phone calls.

He explained that while some of the former appointees had complied with the directive and returned the vehicles, others refused by evading all communication links even when letters were posted on their residential gates.
He stated that all sacked appointees irrespective of whichever camp they belonged had been asked to return government property in their possession especially vehicles.

Hembah said those alleging witchhunt were out for mischief and to score cheap political points, stressing that if they feel harassed, the best thing to do is to return the vehicles to government.
