2019 APGA Primaries: Umeh Wins Anambra Central Senatorial Ticket
Senator Victor Umeh has been affirmed as the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, the flag bearer for Anambra central senatorial zone for the 2019 general elections.
The affirmation primary was conducted at St Matthew Anglican Church Amawobia, a satellite town in the state capital Awka.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the returning officer for the exercise, Chief Emeka Olisa, said Senator Umeh as a sole candidate scored 207 votes from the total of 209 delegates from the seven council areas that constitute the district.
The exercise which was reportedly peaceful was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security personnel.
Reacting after the exercise, Umeh told journalists that the affirmation was not surprising, bearing in mind that he has represented the district wonderfully at the upper chamber of the national assembly within the space of nine months.
Umeh who disclosed further that within the period in the Senate, he sponsored two motions, two bills and construction of school blocks across his constituency, said the decision of the party to endorse him will act as a tonic for him to work more for the district when he eventually wins his second term election.
He, however, appealed to all other aspirants under the APGA platform in the state, who are aggrieved in one way or the other for the party interest to let go of their anger and join hand to make the party more greater in the country.
