Cross River Factional APC Calls For Oshiomhole’s Resignation
Cross River factional group of the governing All Progressives Party, APC yesterday took to the streets of Calabar metropolis calling for the resignation and removal of the party’s National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by the leadership of the party.
The groups’ grievances and accusations was that Oshiomhole had refused to give recognition to the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Usani as the authentic APC flag bearer for the Cross River State 2019 governorship election despite a court order to that effect.
A chieftain of the party who claimed to be a spokesman of the aggrieved group, Comrade Paschal King accused the national secretariat of the party of being unfair to their candidate who the protesters claimed was supposed to be the authentic APC flag bearer in the state before the victory was upturned in favor of another unauthentic candidate.
The protesters stated that all that they were seeking for was to get the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs installed as the authentic flag bearer for the party in the state for the interest of peace.
The protesters regretted the action of the national chairman and said, “If the national party chairman is not called to order he is going to destroy the party”.
Paschal said, “We are in the streets to protest the impunity, injustice and total and blatant refusal to give respect to the court ruling by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and his cohorts”.
“Oshiomhole’s attitude is becoming unbearable in recent times. His attitude has made us to understand that the former national chairman, Chief John Odigie- Oyegun was truly a saint. We are out on the streets to show to the world and to the national leadership of the party our anger over comrade Oshiomhole’s impunity which if not checked will destroy the party”.
