Okorocha Insists On His Son-In-Law Being Governor, Seeks Legal Means
The battle of successor race to the Imo state governor’s stool is still generating concern as the incumbent governor, Rochas Okorocha, is reportedly trying an alternative court means to install his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu as the next governor of the state
Leadership reports that Governor Okorocha, who is not ready to give in easily, has sought the judiciary assistance towards removing Senator Hope Uzodimma, the winner of the Imo All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries on October 1.
ORIENTAL TIMES gathers that Uzodimma, upon his victory, has secured a high court injunction restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the APC from fielding or accepting the name of any other person except his name.
However, Governor Rochas who is desperate to bring in a successor has boasted that he would channel all moves to ensure that his hope to install Nwosu is not dashed, adding that he has got the backing of the party’s national working committee.
Meanwhile, recall that the stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo had expressed that they had made Governor Rochas Okorocha politically irrelevant in their determination to rescue the party from imminent collapse.
Theo Ekechi, who spoke to newsmen after a closed-door meeting with the APC national leadership on Thursday, May 17, in Abuja, said the stakeholders had overwhelming evidences against Okorocha’s plan to hold the structure of the state
Ekechi said stakeholders, had however made it impossible for the governor to get attention from any quarter in the state and in the southeast region.
