Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB Leader’s Lawyer Drops Court Case Against Orji Kalu
The defence team of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has dropped its push to have a former Governor of Abia State Orji Kalu appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja and testify about the whereabouts of the Biafran activist.
This, it was learnt, was due to Kanu’s surprised emergence in an online video clip reportedly showing him praying in Israel.
The Federal Government was prosecuting Kanu and others on charges of treasonable felony at the Federal High Court in Abuja before he became missing since September 14, 2017 following a military invasion of his home in Afara-Ukwu in Umuahia, Abia State.
Kanu’s lead counsel, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had caused the court to summon the former governor for claiming that the IPOB leader had escaped to the United Kingdom after the military invasion.
Kalu’s claim was in contrary to Ejiofor-led legal team’s belief that the IPOB leader was either abducted or killed by soldiers during the military operation.
