Imo Guber: APC Group Drums Support For Uzodinma, Vows To Stop Okorocha

Amid raging fierce competitions by the various political parties for the 2019 governorship seat in Imo State, a group called the State APC Elders Council has called on the electorate to vote massively for Senator Hope Uzodinma, the APC governorship candidate.

The group argued that a vote for Uzodinma, who currently represents the Imo West Senatorial District at the nation’s red chambers, would put smiles on the faces of the masses and restore hope to them.

The council, which comprised elders and leaders of Owerri, Okigwe and Orlu zones, in a statement made available to newsmen in Owerri, argued that the emergence of Uzodinma as the APC governorship candidate had liberated the state from the absolute power of Governor Rochas Okorocha, whom it said, was plotting to enthrone himself as an emperor in the state.

The council, which spoke through its chairman, Dr. E.J.K Onyewuchi, said that the members were not interested in elective positions but were concerned with the future of the youths who have been thrown into avoidable frustration and agony by the Okorocha administration.

Onyewuchi assured that Uzodinma as a governor would liberate the people from crushing hunger, penury and destitution and also prevent Okorocha from establishing himself as an emperor with the power of life and death.

He added, “We consulted widely and the lot fell on Senator Uzodinma to fly the party’s flag. He did not impose himself on the party, rather we were the ones who mounted pressure on him to come out and run.

“As a serving senator, he has the opportunity to go back to the Senate where he has the prospect to become the next Senate president but he feels that he is duty bound to run so as to salvage our state from further degeneration.”
