Ezekwesili Reacts To Zakari’s Appointment As Head Of Collation Center, Says INEC Not Independent

Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN, has also condemned the appointment of Mrs. Amina Zakari as head of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre for the 2019 elections.

She warned that the appointment might have grave consequences.

Recall that as earlier reported and published by ORIENTAL TIMES, Zakari will be responsible for announcing the result of the presidential election, following her appointment into the position by INEC boss, Mahmood Yakubu on Thursday.

The appointment has however not gone down well with certain stakeholders who believe she shouldn’t have been appointed into such sensitive position as she is a relative of President Muhammadu Buhari who is also a contestant in the presidential election.

Ezekwesili, on her Twitter Page, condemned Zakari’s appointment.

“It is now quite obvious that the @inecnigeria Chairman is making decisions that cannot at all be INDEPENDENT. How in the world can@inecnigeria Amina Zakari – niece of @MBuhari – as its Head of Collation Center? Are the INEC Chairman &President ready for the grave consequence?.”
