Nnamdi Kanu Exonerates Orji Kalu, Blames Ikpeazu For Military Invasion Of His Home

Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has laid to rest rumours making the round in Abia state that former governor of the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu was behind invasion of his home in 2017 by the Nigerian Army.

Instead, Kanu, while admonishing his members in his Saturday night broadcast from Israel repeatedly alleged it was Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, who allegedly masterminded the invasion of the military in his home and Abia state entirely.

The IPOB leader, however, said that inasmuch as most politicians in the South-East were guilty in one way or the other concerning the military invasion, it was Ikpeazu and his Ebonyi state counterpart, Dave Umahi who were directly responsible for the invasion.

The rumours linking Kalu to the military invasion started flying at the weekend, as the state Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu while answering question on the invasion of Kanu’s home by the military in 2017 in a local Radio programme in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, said that it was Kalu and not Ikpeazu who brought the army to invade the IPOB leader’s home.

But Kanu last night blamed Ikpeazu for the military invasion of his home notwithstanding Kalu’s sentiment about IPOB.

He said: “The fact remains that Okezie Ikpeazu as the Chief security officer of the state is the only person uniquely positioned to authorize such military raid and not Orji Uzor-Kalu who left office twelve years ago.

“He may have had sentiment towards it, but you’re the one in power.

“There was senseless slaughter of those agitating for Biafra all happened under his watch even before the brutal invasion of my compound in September 2017 which perversely Okezie Ikpeazu is now blaming Orji Uzor-Kalu.

“Of course none of them is guilt free, but one at a time. We are holding Okezie Ikpeazu responsible because he’s the one in power. When the time comes for others the world will hear it.

“I remember vividly the burdens of those killed while praying at National High School in Aba. I remember those saturated with acid and dumped at borrow pit in Asa. Not even Hitler tried such. Can you imagine the cruelty? Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abia chapter has warned officials of Abia state government against involving the former governor of the state, Kalu in the military raid of the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi kanu.

The APC state Publicity Secretary, comrade Ben Godson while reacting said the allegation was not only spurious, but the height of irresponsibility for the commissioner to try to twist facts and tell cheap lies to deceive Abians for the sake of politics.

Godson said: “Some of us should be responsible in our utterances; we shouldn’t bring sycophancy in everything we do. We should not be constantly telling lies to deceive the people even when the facts of the matter are very clear.”
