An anti-cult group, Vision Savers Global Outreach, has taken its campaign to Brain-Field International Academy in Aba, Abia state to sensitise the students on the dangers associated with cultism and cult-related activities.

Speaking with our correspondent on Sunday, the President and Founder of the group, Apostle Emmanuel Obasi said the group was registered to take anti-cult campaign to the academic institutions around the country, which he said is the hotbed of cultism.

He said the campaign has so far recorded a huge success, as a high number of students have publicly denounced their membership of various confraternity groups. “So far the response has been very awesome. The success we have recorded in the nine secondary schools we have visited in Aba is an eloquent testimony that the land is fertile for the message” he said.

Apostle Obasi, a graduate of Computer Science Abia State Polytechnic Aba told our correspondent that as an ex cult leader, he traversed in what he called the kingdom of darkness insisting that it has no gain.

He however decried the limited capacity of the newly registered NGO, saying logistics and funding pose a serious risk to its operations. “What we are doing now is just within the limit of what we can afford. The task of liberating our youths from the grip of darkness is one that must be performed. The little resources we sourced within our members is what we are using but it’s grossly inadequate.

“In Aba alone, we cannot cover the secondary schools there in three years, if we’re to be visiting each of the schools one after the other. You can imagine how long it’ll take us to cover the entire state and the rest of the country. What we’re advocating is a situation where we can be going by the geopolitical zones in the states” he said.

Apostle Obasi who insisted that the main target of the group is the universities, polytechnics and other institutions of higher learning said sourcing for money to provide the logistical needs of the anti-cult sensitisation has not been easy. He therefore called on federal and state governments, corporate organizations and individuals to support the activities of the group in its bid to enthrone a more peaceful society.
