Kanu’s Call For Presidential Election Boycott Unhealthy For Ndigbo By Uchechukwu Elechi
Nnamdi Kanu’s call for boycott of presidential election is clearly unhealthy for the political life and social welfare of Ndigbo.
We should have learnt from the boycott of Anambra gubernatorial election which yielded no result up till this very moment. I recall vividly that Nnamdi Kanu authoritatively asserted that after the boycott of the Anambra guber poll, the Chief Judge of the state would be made the sole administrator and thereafter there would be a referendum. Many months gone, and non of those has happened, IPOB members have also failed to ask Nnamdi Kanu why — well, he of course cleverly has answer to every question albeit to intimidate and hypnotise.
It is very pertinent to note that a people cannot successfully boycott an election without being part of the electoral process or system. Had Nnamdi Kanu asked his members to register and collect their PVCs – for the same purpose of boycott, it would have been a different ballgame.
IPOB members are not registered voters, how then do you want them to boycott an election. Election boycott is not all about sitting at home at the day of election.
Let’s do a simple analysis of how an election can be successfully boycotted:
If the total number of eligible voters in the South-East equals 10,000,000 (ten million), and 8 million are all registered, and on the day of election, only 3 million votes, that election would be recorded as having being successfully boycotted because less than 50% of the registered voters exercised their franchise. This invariably means the majority of the voters have registered their lack of confidence in the electoral process in particular and the government of the country in general.
Now, in the case of IPOB:
Nnamdi Kanu as usual ordered IPOB members not to register for PVC. Unfortunately, those that even had theirs had it destroyed.
On the election day: If 3 million are registered voters and 2.5 million cast their votes on that day while about 5 million who never registered are seated at home, results from the election would not be invalidated because over 70% who registered also participated. You see how IPOB has failed in their uncalculated genuine bid?
Another important point: If the United Nations decides to conduct a referendum today in the South-East, they won’t meet Nnamdi Kanu, they won’t meet any Principal officer of IPOB. But they’ll meet the 5 Igbo governors and Ohanaeze Ndigbo whom Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB members constantly abuse.
If you’re not in tandem with the elected Representatives of the region you are supposedly fighting for, how do you expect to achieve a referendum? Practically impossible!
Lest I forget! Kanu during one of his recent broadcasts said that they (IPOB) would queue behind any governorship candidate from the South-East who endorses IPOB’s agitation for self-determination. According to him, they will not only vote for the person, but they would even sleep in the polling units to protect the votes of such person.
Now this obvious question comes to mind; why didn’t Nnamdi Kanu ask his members to vote for Osita Chidoka (in the 2018 Anambra gubernatorial election) who did not only embrace IPOB’s ideology but also identified with him in his trying times when some Igbo leaders were afraid to do so but he insisted on election boycott which failed intoto.
Everything is becoming clearer now. Something has obviously gone amiss!

My question is just a simple one. Why Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano, who is currently in APGA party and Governor of Ebonyi State David Nweze Umahi, who also in PDP openly endorses President Muhammadu Buhari Feb 16th 2019 re-election? and people see nothing wrong with that but when Mazi Nnamdi Kanu call for total boycott of the same Feb 16th 2019 election people bully him all over the social media upon his love for the same people.
You won your sit as Governor Today with APGA party which you all claim is indigenous party form by our late Biafra Leader Dim Chukwu Emeka Odimegwu Ojukwu. But you abandon the same party that brought you into the Highest Office of the state and declare your support for APC party which half of Nigeria’s tagged as curse and evil party. It came as a rude shock to me that Nigerians are this porous historically. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu during his broadcast on 2nd Feb, 2019 had said that Atiku Abubakar WAS a Cameroonian, which was met with all manner of vitriol attack on him. This simply sums up the whole lot of issues plaguing the Nigerian Educational system. To make issues worse, the Nigerian media without proper investigation has twisted the narratives, thereby trying to dupe Nigerians of the essence of that statement and sowing seed of discord for public consumption.
If you are a student of history you will know for sure that some part of Adamawa where Atiku Abubakar originated from was formerly part of Cameroon. It is an undenaible truth, which even Atiku himself is well aware of.
On 11th Feb, 1961 a “Referendum” was held for them to determine if they should join Nigeria or remain in Cameroon. The northern Cameroon voted YES and became part of Nigeria, while the Southern voted NO and remained with Cameroon. Today, the Southern part of Cameroon (Ambazonian) are fighting to secede from Cameroon after been subjugated to all manner of oppression from their Cameroonian counterpart.
Let me digress
Have you heard about NCNC? It means “National Council of Nigeria and Cameroons. Adamawa was initially part of Cameroon.
Back to the issue.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu during his broadcast on 2nd Feb 2019 was hinting on the fact that a “Referendum” had been held in Nigeria, and using that yardstick to drive home his point that same should apply to Biafra. What is good for the goose should also be palatable to the gander.
So to intellectually kwashiokored Nigerians, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was actually right in his assertion that Atiku Abubakar WAS a Cameroonian.
History should not be distorted. He spoke the fact.
This entails the sad reality staring at everyone that Nigerians go into the Nigerian higher institution yet come out worse. Truly, education in Nigeria is a complete waste of time, resources and energy.
In Biafra, such lapses will never be seen.

For the brianless Nigeria youth that can’t reason beyond their nose, on yesterday broadcast Nnamdi Kanu made it clear that for us to vote in this already rigged Nigeria election the govt of Nigeria should meet up with our demands which one of them is to include referendum in the1999 fraud called constitution. he made it known that Biafra referendum will not be first of it kind that Nigeria govt once conducted referendum when the Northern cameroon which is the area the current presidential aspirant ‘Atiku Abubakar came from.
the agreement, therefore, was that, Northern Cameroon joined the northern part of Nigeria, they being a Muslim region and constituting of about two-third of the populace, while Southern Cameroon (the last third) opted to join Cameroon. Hence, Northern Cameroon became a region of Nigeria on May 31, 1961.
From what i observed from the reaction of the so called Nigeria youth i hereby declare all of them brain dead and unreasonable idiots.
