Buhari vs Atiku: Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Takes First Decision
The 2019 Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Wednesday fixed dates for the pre-hearing session of petitions filed by Alh. Atiku Abubakar.
The tribunal, at its inaugural sitting on Wednesday, fixed 15th and 16th May, 2019 for the pre-hearing session.
ORIENTAL TIMES recalls the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ), Atiku Abubakar, is challenging the election victory of Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress at the 2019 presidential polls.
The chairman of the tribunal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa had in her opening remarks, promised that the members of the tribunal will discharge their duties without any bias.
She also called for the cooperation of all stakeholders in ensuring a successful outcome.
At the inaugural hearing which held at the Court of Appeal, all lawyers representing parties in the matter were called upon to identify the petitions and applications filed.
The courtroom was filled to capacity with lawyers, INEC officials, and journalists.
Sitting arrangements were also made outside the courtroom for observers of the process as observed by Sahara Reporters in its report.
