JUST IN: EFCC Releases Naira Marley

Naira Marley

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria’s anti-graft agency has released Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley.

His release comes after he was arrested alongside others in the wake of Friday, May 10 which happens to be his birthday.

Naira Marley was released in few hours after his arrest on Friday.

Fans and supporters of the Nigerian artiste had since been celebrating the release of the artiste since he walked out of the EFCC’s custody in Lagos.

He was earlier arrested and being quizzed by the operatives of the EFCC over an offence that is not totally unconnected to his recent support of internet fraud, popularly known as ‘Yahoo Yahoo in Nigeria.’

ORIENTAL TIMES recalls that the EFCC had in a statement on Friday unveiled the reasons behind Naira Marley’s arrest.

However, the arrest of Naira Marley seems not to go down well with some Nigerians as some have taken to their social media platforms to express their reactions over the arrest of the artiste.

This news platform recalls that the singer said in April that internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys) are crucial to the circulation of money in the Nigerian economy.

ORIENTAL TIMES reports that Naira Marley made this comment during an Instagram live session on Tuesday, April 23.
