BREAKING: Proceedings Stalled As Atiku Requests To Meet Tribunal Members
The proceedings of the presidential election tribunal has been put on hold following a request by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar’s lawyer, Levi Ozoukwu, to move an application.
Following Ozoukwu’s request, the chairman of the tribunal, Zainab Bulkachuwa, directed all the lawyers involved in the case to meet in the court’s inner chamber.
Major politicians in court are PDP’s national chairman, Uche Secondus (represented his party); a former boss of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu (representing President Muhammadu Buhari), and former member, Lagos State House of Assembly and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Babatunde Ogala.
It would be recalled that as the presidential election tribunal begins sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Wednesday, May 15, a team of security operatives surrounded the building.
The said team comprises officers of the Nigerian Army, the police and Civil Defence. In a bid to boost security, roads leading the police headquarters, the federal secretariat and ministry of finance have been blocked.
