Gov. Ihedioha Commences Demolition Of Monuments Built By Okorocha [VIDEO]
Newly sworn-in governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha has commenced the demolition of monuments erected by his predecessor, Rochas Okorocha.
Barely 24 hours after he was sworn-in, Ihedioha took as his first assignment the demolition of Akachi towers, a tourist attraction centre built by Okorocha.
Akachi towers was commissioned by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo a week ago when he visited the state. The project would have been commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari who couldn’t make it down because he was performing a lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The demolition has raised fears that Ihedioha will demolition other monuments erected by Okorocha such as the statue of President Muhammadu Buhari.
While handing over yesterday, Okorocha made the below statement.
“I am a lover of peace. As I walk out of this government house today, let nobody fight me and I will not fight nobody”
“I have not broken the law, I only bend to achieve results. I do things the other way and I get results. I remember in 2011 when darkness ravaged and people cannot go out for fear of being kidnapped but today Imo is a secured state.
“So I can say that I came, I saw and I conquered. I am not here to make speeches on my achievements. I encourage you to support the new government in power.
“The office of the governor is a seal covering people, it is like a mask covering me and if you remove that mask you will see the real Rochas that is bigger than the governor. Let those that are fighting stop as I leave the Government House today.”
