Trump Recognizes LGBT Pride Month For First Time, Says ‘My Administration Has Launched Global Campaign To Decriminalize Homosexuality’

LGBT for Trump

US President Donald Trump on Friday recognized LGBTQ Pride Month — something he didn’t do during the first two years of his presidency.

The month of June was chosen for LGBT Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBT people have had in the world.

In celebration of this year’s LGBT pride month, Trump states that his administration has launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality and invite all nations to join us in this effort.

“As we celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made to our great Nation, let us also stand in solidarity with the many LGBT people who live in dozens of countries worldwide that punish, imprison, or even execute individuals on the basis of their sexual orientation,” Trump tweeted.

“My Administration has launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality and invite all nations to join us in this effort!,” the president said.
