The 9th National Assembly will be inaugurated today Tuesday, June 11, and the newly sworn-in lawmakers will elect presiding officers that would pilot its affairs for the next four years.
Senator Ahmed Lawan will be taking on Senator Ali Ndume in the race to become the next Senate President.
While Femi Gbajabiamila will take on Hon. Umar Bago for the Speakership of the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, security operatives have barred vehicles from entering into the National Assembly Complex ahead of today’s election of principal officers of both legislative chambers.
ORIENTAL TIMES gathered that all the entry points into the complex are manned by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) police and other security agencies.
The SGF entry point close to the Complex that was partially opened was barricaded by security operatives at the annex axis of the Complex as motorists were asked to use the main entry point.
