June 12: Obasanjo’s Ego Stopped Him From Honouring MKO Abiola — Fayose
The former governor of Ekiti State, Peter Ayodele Fayose, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for honouring the late MKO Abiola with the declaration of June 12 as Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
Fayose faulted Obasanjo’s failure to honour the late MKO and further declared it a shame that would remain sore-point of political history because he was OBJ’s kinsman.
Fayose tweeted through his handle, @GovAyoFayose: “Honouring MKO Abiola by @MBuhari is to Obasanjo’s shame. It remains a sore-point of his political history that because of ego, Obasanjo, who’s the greatest beneficiary of the June 12, 1993 struggle failed to honour his kinsman, MKO Abiola. So, I commend President Buhari.”
Just at about two minutes that Fayose tweeted this, Nigerians started reacting to his claim with some of the tweeps bashing him and others commending his intelligence.
One of the tweeps, with handle @xpoint5441 said: “I usually choose my respect for someone with indifference, despite their political party stand, ‘Oshokomole’ still spoke the truth.”
Another, with handle @doublejeopardee tweeted: “Fayose speaks this so-called truth because he still bears a grudge against the man who orchestrated his impeachment. He makes it an ethnic issue, rather than the fundamental righting of wrongs against democracy. Fayose, I enjoin you to leave vengeance for the Lord, forgive and move on,” she maintained.
Meanwhile, a tweep, @GBOLAHANadekit1 claimed that Fayose is only trying to find a safe landing to join the APC.
“When wailer woke up on the right side of the bed,” @selverbee tweeted.
