Kalu: Real Reason I Dropped My Senate Presidency Ambition — Though I Could Have Won
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC-Abia North) has revealed that he could have won the Senate Presidency had he gone ahead to contest, but he withdrew his ambition in obedience to the directives of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former Abia State governor made this known while addressing friends and supporters at his residence.
Senator Kalu stated that he couldn’t have disobeyed President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC).
He said: “I won, APC won, President Buhari won, and Adams Oshiomole won”, adding, “I could have won the Senate Presidency, but will not work in peace with the party.”
Speaking further, the lawmaker urged South Easterners to get involved in Nigeria politics ahead of the 2023 elections.
“we are the salt of the nation and have the strength to turn the tide. We only need to come together”.
“We can face challenges today and tomorrow but must not leave our tomorrow in the hands of others,” Kalu warned.
Meanwhile, Senator Ahmed Lawan and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege emerged Senate President and Deputy of the 9th National Assembly respectively.
