PDP Fingers DSS Over Abduction Of Its New Media Personality

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the Department of Security Services (DSS) of having a hand in the alleged forceful seizure of one Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Abu Hanifa Dadiyata.

The party therefore called on the DSS to speak out and also take immediate steps to secure the release of Dadiyata from his abductors before it is too late.

Idris is from Kano state, a social activist and PDP new media personality. He was allegedly violently abducted last week Friday.

There are claims in the media and the public space that DSS men allegedly participated in his abduction on the behest of interests affiliated to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state.

In a statement on Thursday by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP said that the DSS had to stop being silent on the abduction since there are already claims its men was part of it.

“More so, Mr. Idris is known for his fierce criticism of anti-people policies of the APC and its administration, particularly in Kano state.

“There are already public insinuations that Idris’ abduction to an unknown destination is not unconnected with an apparent desperation to intimidate, suppress and silence public opinion and free speech in Nigeria as well as to further entrench a siege mentality on our citizenry,” the party said.

It therefore called on the DSS high command to speak out as well as take urgent steps to secure the release of Idris from his abductors before it is too late.

PDP added, “The is especially because the polity is already overheated and any delay in the release of Dadiyata is capable of triggering further aggressions in our polity, particularly in Kano state, where he commands a very large followership.”
