BREAKING: IGP Bows To Pressure, Removes Enugu Police Commissioner
The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Suleiman Balarabe, has been sacked following the wake of insecurity in the state.
Mr Balarabe has been replaced with Ahmed Abdulrahman as the new Police Commissioner. Abdulrahman has since resumed duty as the Police Commissioner in the state.
It was gathered that Balarabe’s sack followed several calls and unending protests for his removal as Enugu Police Commissioner by several pressure groups.
ORIENTAL TIMES recalls that residents in the state took to the streets to protest against the then CP following the killing of one Mrs Regina Mba by hoodlums on Thursday last week.
Balarabe had been accused of incompetency and highhandedness by several groups and individuals, in the wake of insecurity in the Southeastern state.
He was also accused of not effectively complementing the efforts of the governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in checkmating the activities of hoodlums and bandits it the state.
Just yesterday, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Enugu pushed for Balarabe’s removal, saying Enugu was known for peace until his redeployment to the state as Commissioner.
