Buhari Seeks Senate Approval To Pay Kogi N10bn
President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a letter to the Nigerian Senate, seeking approval for the payment of N10.069billion to the Kogi State Government.
Buhari is also seeking the Senate’s approval for a bond issuance to settle inherited debt.
The President, in the letter, addressed to Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, said the money would be used by the state government to settle local debts it incurred as a result of the projects executed on behalf of the Federal Government.
ORIENTAL TIMES understands that Buhari’s letter of request was read on the floor of the Nigerian Senate by Lawan.
Buhari said his request was based on the resolution passed by the eighth Senate.
The request is coming a month to the Kogi governorship election which is slated for November 16 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
