2023 Presidency: Ohanaeze Youths Urge 2 Igbo Governors, Senators, Others To Join APC

The Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has urged two governors from the South-east to join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The group said that if at least two Igbo governors should join the APC, the region would have an edge over other southern zones in the bid for presidency in 2023.

OYC’s statement was contained in a press release signed and made available to ORIENTAL TIMES by its President-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and Secretary General, Okwu Nnabuike respectively.

The group said “Igbo Youths observed that in other to have an edge over other Southern Zones over 2023 Presidency, We insists that at least two South East Governors or State should decamp to APC, and authoritatively already talks had begun in with some critical stakeholders to actualized this political balance in the South East, at least with three South East PDP Governors and Two South East APC Governors before first quarter of 2021, knowing fully well that Bayelsa election may strengthen South/South having two APC states ahead of 2023 if care is not taken, South East understood the importance of having two APC states ahead of 2023.”

In the statement, they also commended some of the political leaders from the Southeast who are enjoying cordial relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari, irrespective of party affiliation, noting that based on political antecedents, Igbos have traditionally identified with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, for almost two decades of Nigeria’s democracy until former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha decamped to APC, where he finished his tenure as governor.

“We are independently sure that with two APC Governors from the South East, it will strengthen our collective bargain for a Nigerian President of Igbo stock 2023 in both PDP and APC, and Urge Igbos to use ” anya Dee Nwamuo Lee ihe nno n’akpa” let’s despise the flaws of the past and flush it into the dustbin of history, and We surely get two Igbo Presidential materials to fly PDP and APC tickets, especially those with the same pedigrees of Great Zik of Africa,” OYC said.
