Buhari Has Not Travelled Up To Obasanjo – Oshiomhole
Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo travelled more than President Muhammadu Buhari during his time as Nigeria’s president.
Oshiomhole made the submission in an attempt to defend President Buhari’s many foreign trips since he was elected as Nigeria’s leader in 2015.
According to Oshiomhole, Buhari was yet to match any of his predecessors in terms of visiting foreign countries, especially former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
He made the claims while answering questions from journalists yesterday in Abuja.
“Saying that President involves in frequent trips is not correct. I remember very well, there is no President in recent Nigeria’s history, since 1999 till now, that travelled out of Nigeria as much as former President Olusegun Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo did,” Oshiomhole said.
He also made reference to a book by the late Gani Fawehinmi who he said calculated the number of days Obasanjo spent in foreign lands during his eight-year tenure as the president of the country.
“If you check through your newspapers and play back some of your electronic coverages, you will find where Gani Fawehinmi of blessed memory took time to calculate the number of days President Obasanjo was out of Nigeria, visiting foreign countries.
Recall that Buhari is currently away on official trip to Saudi Arabia where he is attending the Economic Forum of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh.
The President will after the Saudi trip, proceed to London, the United Kingdom for a private visit.
