I Have A Dream That Nigeria Will Have 24 Hours Power One Day — NERC Chair

The chairman of Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, James Momoh, has said he has a dream that Nigerians will enjoy stable power supply one day.

Momoh was attending a conference centered on electricity and as he was about to make his speech, he channeled his inner ”Martin Luther King”.

Momoh shared his dream with the audience at a programme on the electricity sector.

“I have a dream that one day, my people Nigerians, will have power 24/7. I have a dream that Nigeria will overcome all pressures,” the NERC chairman said.

“I have a dream that this country Nigeria, with the African people, we have come with solidarity, one mind to make a change, to reflect that there is hope. Keep hope alive.”

Nigerians responded by saying you cannot ”motivationally” talk electricity into existence. They pointed out that when Martin Luther King used the famous lines, he was already working and not dreaming.

In 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari had assured Nigerians of affordable and uninterrupted electricity supply in “not too distant future”.

Speaking during his 59th Independence day broadcast, the president said his administration is resolute in reforming the power sector, The Cable reports.

“I remain confident that Nigerians will have affordable and uninterrupted electricity supply in the not too distant future,” the president said.
