FACT CHECK: Is Nnamdi Kanu In Nigeria For Parents’ Burial?

The burial of the parents of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu is holding today, February 14, in Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, the Abia State capital which is in South-East, Nigeria.

Understandably, a lot of people are asking if Kanu is presently in the country for his parents’ burial.

However, the question might not be unconnected to a video released by the members of the group which shows the IPOB leader in his compound in Umuahia surrounded by his followers who were chanting “Welcome home” songs in Igbo language.

A lot of people who have shared the said video multiple times on social media already believe that Kanu is currently in Nigeria.

But, a fact check by ORIENTAL TIMES confirms that the video dates back to 2017. It shows when the IPOB leader visited his hometown not long after he was released from Kuje prison following the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
