Atiku, Bruce React As South African Govt Hands Over Major Appointment To Okonjo-Iweala
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has hailed Nigeria’s ex-Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on her new appointment.
South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, named the former Managing Director, Operations, World Bank, as a member of the country’s Economic Advisory Council.
ORIENTAL TIMES understands that Cyril Ramaphosa heads the council which comprises local and international gurus.
Atiku said Okonjo-Iweala’s inclusion in the council was good for Nigeria.
‘I congratulate Dr @NOIweala on her appointment into South Africa’s Economic Advisory Council.
“Her appointment by President @CyrilRamaphosa of South Africa is proof that Nigerians are global and capacity is indeed an asset that can be exported,” he wrote.
Similarly, former lawmaker, Ben Murray Bruce, celebrated the finance expert.
He tweeted: “Congratulations @NOIweala on your appointment by President @CyrilRamaphosa
“Your exceptional ability during your active service in Nigeria remains a currency that will never lose its value. I wish you even more success in your new role as Member of SA’s Economic Advisory Council.”
The body will advise Ramaphosa on productivity and facilitate the development, implementation of South African economic policies.
