United States Reportedly Stops Visa For Nigerians Earning Below N612,000 Monthly
The United States of America has once again tightened visa restriction on Nigerians declaring that the Green Card system which makes it possible for citizens to live and work in America has been scrapped, according to reports.
Going by information gathered from a US agency on immigration, any Nigerian earning below N612, 000 or $1,700 per month would be denied Visa as they are henceforth considered ‘economic immigrants.’
The information also revealed that Nigerians seeking to travel to the US must provide compelling proofs of what can bring them back to the country while adjustment of status and overstaying would no longer be acceptable.
It warned that henceforth, failure to maintain status could lead to future ban on entry to America and that violation of visa status makes one ineligible to change to marriage, school, work, health, asylum among others.
“If you are visiting the US and find that you want to extend your stay beyond the date on your I-94, you cannot file anything again, you cannot fill Form 1-539, application to extend or change Non immigration status with USCIS”, the agency added.
