JUST IN: EFCC Did Not Arrest Ex-Abia Gov, T.A Orji And Son, Chinedum — Aide

The report that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested a former governor of Abia State, and Senator representing Abia central senatorial district, Senator Theodore Ahamefule Orji and his son, the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly Chinedum Orji over an alleged ₦551billion fraud case has been dismissed as “fake news”.
Recall that an online news platform, Igbere TV News had reported that Orji and his son were arrested on Friday.
Reacting to the news of the purported arrest, Promise Uzoma Okoro, the Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji described the publication as unfortunate, stating that his Principal and his father were not arrested as claimed by the online news outlet.
The statement from Chinedum’s aide reads:
“Disregard the Fake News.
The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly Rt.Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji and the Senator Representing Abia Central Senatorial District was never arrested by the EFCC.
This Useless Publication by Igbere TV is very unfortunate despite their claims that his page has been hacked.
Mr Speaker is really laughing at whoever is behind this gimmicks again.”
