Coronavirus: El-Rufai’s Wife Begs Nigerians To Pray For Infected Husband
The First Lady of Kaduna State, Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, has solicited prayers from Nigerians for her husband, Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who announced on Saturday that he had tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Hadiza solicited the prayers moments after her husband posted a video on Twitter to announce his status.
She said in a tweet: “Dear Tweeps, My husband. the governor of Kaduna State, has tested positive for COVID-19. Please keep us in your prayers.”
Governor El-Rufai, who had put measures in place to prevent the spread of Coronavirus into Kaduna, became the first recorded case of the virus in the state.
The governor had ordered the closure of schools and banned religious and social gatherings of more than 10 people in the state as measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19.
Announcing the outcome of his test result, El-Rufai said: “Earlier this week, I submitted a sample for the Covid-19 test. The result came in this evening, and I regret to say that it is positive.
“According to the protocols for managing Covid-19, I am in self-isolation as required by the case management guidelines of the NCDC for someone that is not showing symptoms.”
The governor urged the people of Kaduna to ensure strict adherence to the preventive measures already announced by his administration.
He said his deputy, Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, would continue to chair the state’s Covid-19 Taskforce, “and will continue to issue statements from time to time” while he remains in isolation
