VIDEO: Difference Between COVID-19 And Malaria — NCDC DG

Director-General of NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, has explained the difference between Malaria and COVID-19 (coronavirus) during a recent press address.

Dr. Ihekweazu stated that COVID-19 is caused by a virus while malaria is caused by a parasite so they are very different although, the initial presentation of both diseases are similar and you can have both at the same time.

He says they are completely different diseases but there are no specific treatment for COVID-19 so the best way they have been managing patients is to treat the specific symptoms presented by the patient until their bodies recover by itself.

This comes after the founder, DAAR Communications, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi who was recently discharged from hospital alongside two of his grandchildren after testing negative for Coronavirus questioned why malaria patients are taken as Covid-19 patients.
