I’ve No Reason To Ask My Supporters To Take Oath — Fayose
A former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, had described the claims that his loyalists were caught in a secret oath taking as falsehood manufactured to tarnish his image.
Fayose said he had no reason to ask his loyalists to be involved in oath taking, saying he was not contesting any election.
The former governor who said this in a video posted on his Twitter handle on Thursday urged his followers to move forge ahead with their efforts to make the party better.
Fayose, who spoke in Yoruba on the video, said what happened in the video was twisted to suit his detractors but said he would not be detterred by their antics.
Fayose said, “I have no reason to ask anybody to swear to an oath for me. I am not contesting any election, I am not soliciting for votes so why will I do that?
“Let our yes be yes and let our no be no. We should be looking ahead and not backward. And to those who were accused of swearing to an oath because of me, move forward, don’t give them oportunity to twist what you do again. Our party will not retrogress
“It would have been better if it didn’t happen but the incident was exaggerated and twisted by some people .”
Reacall that a video which went viral during the week showed some Peoples Democratic Party members loyal to Fayose purportedly swearing to an oath during a ward meeting in the Ijero Local Government Area of the state
Those involved were seen making vows not to betray Fayose but there was no object or any of the holy books used
A former Chairman of the PDP in the state, Bola Olu-Ojo was among the prominent faces in the video.
But he denied involvement in any oath taking saying what they did was not secret and was not an oath.
