Lady Arraigned In Rivers Court For Indecent Dressing And Taking Photograph Of Policeman On Duty Without His Consent
The police in Rivers state on Tuesday August 25, arraigned a 21-year-old girl, Blessing Levi, before a Magistrate Court sitting in Choba Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, for “indecent dressing and taking a photograph of a policeman on duty without consent.”
The police had dragged Blessing before the court on a three counts charge bordering on indecent dressing and taking a snapshot of the officer on duty without seeking permission.
According to the charge sheet, Blessing was alleged to have some time in May 2020, snapped a police sergeant without his consent. The charge sheet also stated that the lady was ”dressed indecently with an intention to cause disorderliness amongst members of the public.”
Vanguard reports that when the charges were read to Blessing, she pleaded not guilty to all of them.
However, the trial Chief Magistrate, Israel Agbaeaor, granted her bail of N100,000 with surety in like sum. The Magistrate noted that the surety, whose residence must be within the court’s jurisdiction, should deposit two of his/her passport photograph.
The Magistrate ordered that she be remanded in police custody until her bail conditions are met.
He adjourned the case to October 22nd, 2020 for hearing.
