EFCC Arrests 14 Suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ In Anambra, Recovers Eight Cars

Fourteen suspected Internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys”, have been arrested by operatives of the Enugu zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from different parts of Awka, Anambra State.

EFCC in a statement said the suspects were apprehended on Monday following intelligence given to the anti-graft agency.

Spokesman of the commission, Dele Oyewale, disclosed that the suspects whose age ranged from 21 to 28 years, were arrested at Okpuno Awka, Agu Awka and Ngozika Estate, all in the state capital.

Oyewale said items recovered from them were different exotic vehicles, which included three Mercedes Benz 4matic, three Mercedes Benz AMG and two Lexus Rx cars.

He also said: “Interim analyses of some of the suspects’ phones indicated they were involved in some suspected internet fraud which include online bitcom scam, love scam and identity theft.

“The suspects will soon be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
