Gov Uzodinma Bags Pan-Nigerian Governor Of The Year Award

The governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, was yesterday conferred with the award of the Pan-Nigerian Governor of the Year by the Coalition of Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders in Nigeria (CENYLON). The group, led by its national president, Mohammed Salihu Danlani, and the deputy, Dr Kingsley Dozie, described the governor ‘as not only a detribalized Nigerian but a youth leader and an astute believer of national unity and coexistence’.

Mr Danlani, while presenting the award, said, “Though our tongues may differ, but we believe in the brotherhood and unity of Nigeria. It is our collective efforts towards building a united Nigeria.”

Receiving the award at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Owerri, Senator Uzodinma commended the composition of the coalition, which he described as ‘a show that though our diversity is strong, we should derive strength from it and promote the ‘Project Nigeria’.’

In his words, “I commend the initiative of the youths coming together as a great symbol to encourage national unity, peace building, and promotion of ‘Project Nigeria’. We must continue to draw from the wisdom of our founding fathers to promote the co-existence of all Nigerians as the only panacea for sustainable unity and development of Nigeria. Graciously, the delegation honoured me with an award as a bridge-builder, detribalized leader and most outstanding pan-Nigerian governor on behalf of the youths from all parts of Nigeria.”

Senator Uzodinma pledged to continue to get the youths together by engaging them in productive ventures ‘because they represent the future and the unity Nigerian is looking for’, adding that, “This is an honour done to me and the state in general. I also assure that this honour will not be betrayed or politicised.”

He also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for standing firm in dealing with all the security challenges in the country, encouraging and promoting interventions aimed at helping the poor, and in trying to ensure that food security was achieved across the country.
